Happy New Year Everyone! As RDSEA’s 10th Anniversary Year comes to a close we thank all of our friends and colleagues on all projects for their support and a very successful and rewarding 2012. RDSEA was proud to see and hear about one of our buoy systems deployed on a new project in the Andaman Sea, west of Thailand in November. China’s First Institute of Oceanography deployed a real-time monitoring system that provides a data stream to the “Monsoon Onset Monitoring and its Social and Ecosystem Impact” (MOMSEI) project. This research aims to improve air-sea interaction studies in the region and the understanding and forecasting of the Asian Monsoon onset through in-situ observations. The buoy system was deployed by the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) with scientists from the Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC), Thailand, and the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), State Oceanic Administration (SOA), China. RDSEA is now gearing up for a busy first quarter of 2013 with two projects in South America and a favorite trip back to a project in the Islands of Hawaii. Stand by for full details. You can keep abreast of all RDSEA projects through this webpage link: “Over the Side” News from the Field. As always: "Our Goal is Your Success".
Happy New Year !
